Vanderbilt Commodores QB Diego Pavia says iconic SEC football stadium didn't 'live up to the hype'

Vanderbilt Commodores quarterback Diego Pavia isn't afraid to drop a spicy quote, so it shouldn't be a surprise that that's exactly what he did during an interview this week with Bobby Bones.
Bones asked Pavia about the toughest stadium that he's played in. The former New Mexico State quarterback pointed out LSU's Tiger Stadium as a venue that didn't quite "live up to the hype".
LSU beat Vanderbilt 24-17 in a night game in Baton Rouge last season.
"I don't think LSU really lived up to the hype," said Pavia. "Maybe it wasn't filled though. [It was at] night. And it really wasn't — I honestly think that the whole stadium didn't show up that day. But, you know, they got the best of us. So we have to come in with some fire when they come to town."
102,086 was the official attendance at Tiger Stadium for the Vanderbilt game (the venue holds 102,321).
LSU will visit Nashville on October 18 this season for a matchup with the Commodores.
The comment about Tiger Stadium wasn't the only spicy quote that Pavia dropped during his appearance with Bones.
Pavia also called himself the 2025 Heisman Trophy winner while answering a question about the 2026 NFL Draft.
"I mean, they can't tell the Heisman winner that he can't get drafted, you know," said Pavia when asked by Bones if he has NFL aspirations.
Opinions are mixed on Pavia, but I think he's a refreshing personality in the SEC. And he's an elite competitor — Pavia leaves absolutely everything on the field.
