While Dan Lanning has had a tough time proving to some recruits that it’s worthwhile to attend the Pacific Northwest version of the Georgia Bulldogs when they’re facing off with certain SEC powerhouses, the Oregon Ducks have rounded out an excellent 2026 recruiting class. Ranked in the top 10 across key recruiting sites, Lanning has his Ducks ready to fight LSU for a top pass-rushing defensive tackle.
Deuce Geralds is set to announce his commitment this coming Saturday. Geralds earned an Oregon prediction earlier in July, and is still considered a lean that way. On3 previously reported his final list.
“Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill four-star defensive lineman Deuce Geralds. The defending Big Ten champs are a finalist alongside LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss and Ohio State. Geralds ranks as the nation’s No. 6 defensive lineman and No. 95 prospect overall.”
The 6-foot-1, 268-pounder profiles as a pass-rushing interior defender who can fill Derrick Harmon’s role as an under tackle. Ohio State has been considered the strongest contender for Geralds, but the odds are definitely in Oregon’s corner.
Jhop at ScoopDuck believes he ends up in Eugene, too.
“Oregon has had a very interesting recruiting cycle at the position to say the least. So the addition of Geralds would definitely cover up a lot of the sting from the decommitments and misses. I would call it an upgrade over all of the decommitments in fact.”
The latest update from On3 has LSU as Lanning’s biggest competitor, and that’s a tough matchup for someone from the South. The Tigers have done well in head-to-head battles on the recruiting trail, armed with deep pockets and a staff well-versed in pulling off these wins.
Per On3‘s Steve Wiltfong, “I have an Oregon prediction on record for the nation’s No. 8 defensive line recruit Deuce Geralds, but a source close to him tells me it’s “now a fight between Oregon and LSU.” Geralds will commit on Aug. 2.”
