A former Oklahoma Sooners defensive lineman turned college football analyst showed Neyland Stadium and the Tennessee Vols fan base some major love last week.

Dusty Dvoracek, who played at Oklahoma from 2001 to 2005, recently joined The Dari Nowkhah Show to discuss the latest happenings across college football.

During the conversation, Dvoracek pointed out that he considers the crowd at Neyland in 2015 for the Tennessee vs Oklahoma game as one of the top three all-time crowds he’s seen in college football.

“I did a night game last year — we did the Mississippi State game,” said Dvoracek. “And the running through the T, I mean, you want to talk about one of the best pregame entrances. And I’ll still say for me, a top three all time crowd that I’ve seen was there in Knoxville when Oklahoma and the Baker Mayfield era truly began that night with that fourth quarter comeback. You may not like them, but boy, you should respect the Tennessee traditions as well as that stadium.

“That environment that they can create on a college football Saturday, it is right up there with the absolute best in all college football. So I’m a fan of the Rocky Top chant, of the song, of everything that goes on on a Saturday (at Neyland). I’m sure you’ve been and seen a lot of different places, but man, that’s a special place when it’s right on a college football Saturday.”

That crowd in 2015 was absolutely electric. The fans in Neyland sustained the noise for the entire game.

Unfortunately for the Vols, the game went in Oklahoma’s favor as quarterback Baker Mayfield helped lead the Sooners to a huge comeback win (which I witnessed while standing on the Tennessee sideline that night).

Tennessee’s had some epic crowds over the last few seasons during the Josh Heupel era. But I’m not sure anything compares to the noise the crowd at Neyland provided for over three straight hours in 2015 against Oklahoma.
