The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came into their preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans with a number of notable players dealing with injuries. You can add another one to the list less than a quarter into the game.

RB Rachaad White went down after a run and made his way off the field. He would go down and point to his groin and was later shown getting his upper leg taped up by training staff. The team announced that he is out for the remainder of the game with a groin injury.

White is an important part of Tampa Bay’s offense despite being the backup to Bucky Irving. White totaled 1006 scrimmage yards last year (613 rushing and 393 receiving) with 9 total touchdowns (6 receiving, 3 rushing). He is a particularly strong asset in the passing game, with 942 receiving yards and 9 receiving scores over the last two seasons. He’s also an adept pass blocker, a particularly important skill with LT Tristan Wirfs off the field for the season’s first few weeks with a knee injury.

In White’s place, Sean Tucker has run well for Tampa Bay in the first half against Tennessee, with 6 carries for 32 yards and a touchdown. The Bucs lead the Titans 10-7 early in the second quarter.
