The Cleveland Browns will be back in action this coming Saturday against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Browns are coming off a strong 30-10 win over the Carolina Panthers, where rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders played well.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski opted to hold out most of his starters against Carolina, outside of rookies like defensive tackle Mason Graham and linebacker Carson Schwesinger. Cleveland may again limit its starters this week, as they’ll have two joint practices with the Eagles to take advantage of before the game.

That could mean more playing time for wide receiver Kaden Davis, who is battling for a roster spot. Davis had three catches against the Panthers, two of which went for touchdowns from Sanders.

“Kaden’s been very productive for the football team going back through the spring,” Stefanski said on Saturday. “Very dependable, knows what to do, fast. I think you see his speed show up in practice in game-like settings. So, I was really happy for him to have the success that he did last night.”

Davis is not only an impact player at wideout—standing 6-foot-1 and 193 pounds—but he also brings value on special teams. The Northwest Missouri State product had a 16-yard punt return against the Panthers. Like Stefanski said, Davis has been making plays dating back to OTAs.

After going undrafted in 2022, Davis signed with the Denver Broncos. He made his NFL debut last season for the Browns, when they called him up from the practice squad for the final game.

Cleveland has Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, and Jamari Thrash penciled in at wide receiver. Veteran Diontae Johnson has been a welcome addition during camp and should make the team. Davis is competing for one of the final two spots with Luke Floriea, David Bell, Gage Larvadain, and DeAndre Carter.

With how he’s performed so far, Davis has a strong chance to stick with the Browns when the season begins.
