IMG Academy (Fla.) EDGE Zyron Forstall still has a ways to go in his recruitment as his junior start is set to begin. But, he already knows one program who will be on his short list. New Texas defensive line coach LaAllan Clark has his attention already.
“It was the culture,” Forstall told Rivals’ John Garcia Jr. “Texas had their own little world in Austin, it was nice. Met a lot of great players, met Arch (Manning). He’s a New Orleans native so it was great meeting him. Coach (LaAllan) Clark is a great D-line coach…he knows what he’s doing. Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian) is a great coach, we had a great conversation and he and my grandma hit it off. I loved it out there.”
Forstall is a five-star prospect who is ranked No. 3 overall in the 2027 class, per Rivals’ composite rankings. He is the nation’s second-ranked EDGE prospect and Florida’s No. 1 overall junior prospect.
Zyron Forstall is a New Orleans native but transferred to IMG Academy for his junior season.
247Sports’ Gabe Brooks is a huge fan.
“A 6-foot-3 1/2, 235-pounder with sneaky frame potential who could fit a variety of roles and alignments. Experienced as a two-point and three-point edge rusher, and has also played off the ball,” Brooks said. “Flashes impressive penetrating juice that accompanies sudden redirecting ability, whether pursuing the run or concocting a second rush. Athletic enough to chase down plays from behind. Plays aware.
“Competed in track and field in middle school. Produced excellent testing numbers in Spring 2025 to confirm the functional athleticism on tape. Productive as an impact defender with 13 sacks and four forced fumbles as a sophomore,” Brooks said. “Wins with tools and effort, so pass-rushing potential should be quite high once technical acumen consistently joins the party. Projects as a high-major defensive playmaker who possesses significant long-term developmental upside.”
Another top program is knipping at Texas’s heels in this recruitment.
Forstall recently received an offer from the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes. He spoke with 247Sports Bill Kurelic about the overwhelming feeling he got after receiving the big news.
“I was excited,” Forstall said. “Knowing about the high-level players Ohio State has produced over the years is just crazy.”
Along with the offers from the Buckeyes and Longhorns, Forstall also holds early offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Missouri, and Southern Cal, among others.
