South Oak Cliff (Tex.) offensive tackle Brian Swanson is already a top priority for Texas Longhorns’ offensive line coach Kyle Flood. And the attention is being reciprocated.
Inside Texas’ Charlie Williams likes what he’s hearing early before Swanson’s junior season begins.
“Coach Flood loves my versatility,” Swanson said. “He likes that I can play multiple spots on the offensive line. He’s been one of my favorite coaches to talk to since I got the offer last year.”
Brian Swanson has another connection to Texas which is helping the Longhorns early.
“Adding to the connection, Swanson trains with Zach Collins, widely known as ‘Kyle Flood Jr.’ for his close relationship with Flood and his track record of developing linemen Texas has recruited,” Williams said. “Collins has sent multiple players Flood’s way, including DJ Campbell, Andre Cojoe, Devin Coleman, and Jordan Coleman. That familiarity with both Collins and the Texas program has only strengthened Swanson’s comfort level with the Longhorns.”
Rivals ranks Swanson as a four-star prospect and the No. 19 offensive tackle in the nation. He is the No. 30 overall player in the state of Texas and the No. 204 player nationally in the 2027 class.
“Swanson plans to visit Austin this fall for a home game, though he hasn’t decided which one yet,” Williams said. “What he has decided, though, is how much Texas stands out.
“Texas has made me feel like a priority since the very beginning,” Swanson said.
Charlie Williams has seen Brian Swanson in-person and likes his skill set – emphasizing the flexibility.
“For Coach Flood, Swanson’s combination of size, movement skills, and versatility makes him one of the most important offensive line targets in the 2027 class,” Williams said. “Swanson has the ability to play both guard and tackle at the next level. He moves well for his size, shows a strong base, and consistently moves defenders off the ball with ease.”
The 6-foot-5, 300+ pounder holds notable offers from Oklahoma, Ole Miss, SMU, Pittsburgh, Baylor, Duke, Missouri, Baylor, Arizona State, Alabama, Penn State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Tennessee, Oregon, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech, among several others.
Swanson flexes his elite strength on the track and field as well. As a freshman, he posted a 39-6.5 shot put rep and a 108-0 discus throw, per MileSplit.
Last week, he told 247Sports’ Mike Roach Texas, Arizona State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M are out in front early.
