Westwood (Tex.) quarterback Kavian Bryant spoke with Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman and revealed he has already set some game day visits.
Bryant tells Spiegelman he has trips planned to Florida State (August 30), Texas (September 6) and Texas Tech (September 13) over the first three weeks of the college football season.
This will be Bryant’s first trip to Tallahassee to check out the Seminoles. Texas and Texas Tech, he is quite familiar with.
Kavian Bryant gave his thoughts on each school.
“They have been really consistent,” Bryant said of Florida State.
“It was a really good visit when we were down there,” he continued on his time on campus. “They have told me a few times that I was their guy. Coach Malzahn told me I would fit in perfectly in his scheme — and compared me to Cam Newton and Bo Nix. Coach Novell and Coach Tokarz have reached out to me every week since as well.”
Texas has been viewed as the favorite since the early part of the summer.
“The first day they could make initial contact, they called me at midnight. I thought that was pretty cool,” Bryant said. “They were interested in my style of play and how they could help develop me more.”
The biggest competition for Texas is the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
“Tech has recruited me very well,” Bryant started. “I’m on the phone once a week with Coach Leftwitch. I feel like I’m a priority because it’s just been constant communication with them. By looking at their offense, it fits my style of play really well.”
My take on this recruitment is the Longhorns are still out in front. If McGuire and Texas Tech are willing to invest big-time NIL money into a freshman quarterback, it could muddy the waters a bit. This is just my opinion, but I think FSU is running a solid third place here. Norvell and Co., need to prove a lot on the field this season for the Noles to truly be considered a threat.
But, again, this is just my opinion. A quote from earlier this summer, to me at least, shows how much thought Bryant has put into potentially being the next home-grown signal caller on the Forty Acres.
“To be the signal-caller at Texas comes with a lot, but the way the coaching staff gave me constructive criticism during the camp — that showed me that they take a lot of pride in the quarterback position,” the top-40 prospect in the Rivals300 continued. “It was a camp, but I felt like they wanted me to get a feel of how they do things there. Texas recently made it to the College Football Playoff and had a chance to win it all — and that’s a goal for me … to play for a school that could win it all.”
