When Joey Aguilar takes the field as the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Vols on September 6 in Knoxville, it’ll be his first time experiencing a game at Neyland Stadium (UT opens the season on August 30 in Atlanta against Syracuse).
Aguilar, who was named the Vols’ starting quarterback earlier this week, is from California and he wasn’t a highly touted high school recruit who made the rounds on official visits.
The former Appalachian State quarterback spoke with reporters on Wednesday and he seemed particularly excited to experience an iconic Tennessee tradition.

Aguilar’s first Vols home game, against East Tennessee State, will kick off at 3:30 PM ET.
