A few months into his tenure as general manager of the Oklahoma Sooners, former Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy raised some eyebrows across the Sooners’ landscape when he proclaimed that the Sooners had “NFL-caliber talent in every position room“.

Oklahoma boasts elite 2026 NFL Draft talent

If you judged Oklahoma off of their 6-7 record from last season, you might be surprised to hear just how talented the roster is, especially from someone with the pedigree that Nagy has.

However, a recent NFL Draft watchlist might completely dispel that narrative. The Senior Bowl, the biggest offseason draft event, released their 2026 NFL Draft Top 300 list on Wednesday. The Sooners boasted 10 representatives, spanning eight different position groups.

Here are the 10 Sooners featured on the Senior Bowl watchlist

  • WR Deion Burks
  • LB Kendal Daniels
  • CB Kendel Dolby
  • DT Gracen Halton
  • DE Marvin Jones Jr
  • QB John Mateer
  • RB Jaydn Ott
  • SAF Robert Spears-Jennings
  • DE R Mason Thomas
  • DT Damonic Williams

The 10 prospects on Oklahoma’s roster are third in the country among all schools, just behind LSU’s 14 and Alabama’s 13. The Sooners are tied with Penn State at 10.

Last season, the Sooners had two players invited in linebacker Danny Stutsman and safety Billy Bowman, though only Bowman participated due to Stutsman recovering from a shoulder injury.

However, several former Sooners like Baker Mayfield, Lane Johnson, Landry Jones, Jalen Redmond, and Jalen Hurts made waves at the Senior Bowl in previous seasons.

While we can’t say for certain that this squad will be one of the best in college football, we can say that they are certainly talented across the board. Led by quarterback John Mateer and running back Jaydn Ott with an elite defensive line, the Sooners boast arguably their most talented unit that Brent Venables has coached.

It would be a massive bounce-back for Oklahoma to send most, if not all, of these players to the NFL this season after producing just two drafted players in the 2025 NFL Draft.
