An elite 2028 five-star recruit is showing early interest in the Tennessee Vols, thanks in part to his unique connection to the program.
2028 five-star edge rusher Jackson Vaughn, 6-foot-3/220 lbs from Oradell, NJ, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 player in the state of New Jersey and the No. 29 overall player in the nation (in the 2028 class).
Vaughn is obviously still in the early stages of his recruitment, but he’s already checked out several schools, including Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Texas.
The Vols have a small advantage in this recruiting battle due to the fact that Vaughn’s dad went to Tennessee.
“My dad played at Tennessee and they’ve been showing a lot of love,” said Vaughn to On3 this week. “I wanted to get out, work with the coaches, and be around the people. With my dad playing there and me going to games when I was younger, it feels like home. Tennessee has great fans and a great stadium.”
That’s not the only connection that Vaughn has to Tennessee. The talented five-star recruit attends Bergen Catholic in New Jersey, which is the same high school that former Vols quarterback Jarrett Guarantano attended.
There’s still a long way to go in this battle, but Tennessee should certainly be considered one of the top threats to land Vaughn.
