Micah Parsons just employed one of the most popular tactics players use when they find themselves involved in contract feuds with their own football teams. He removed all Cowboys-related content from his X profile (formerly Twitter).

Parsons also posted a new profile picture that reads: “Micah 7:8 – Even if I fall, I will rise; The Lord is my light.”

The picture included a caption of a hand emoji holding up the peace sign. Additionally, Parsons’ profile now reads “Penn State 2021. TBD.” He also changed his Instagram bio to “TBD.”

Why did Parsons took any mention of Cowboys off of his social media?

The decision is believed to be a response to Jerry Jones’ comments on Michael Irvin’s YouTube page in which he indicated an agreement had been reached between he and Parsons. According to the Cowboys owner, Parsons’ agent David Mulugheta dunked the deal.

“When we wanted to send [the offer discussed with Parsons] over to the agent, he told us to stick it up our ass,” Jones added. “The least incremental part of the whole equations is the attorney or agent.”

Mulugheta has since denied he ever said such a thing. Both Parsons and the Cowboys have indicated a meeting occurred between the former and Jerry Jones, though each party has interpreted things differently. Parsons claims it wasn’t a formal negotiation and that he indicated the team to address Mulugheta. The Cowboys maintain that there was an agreement in place.

According to Jones, the deal “would’ve made (Parsons) the highest-guaranteed player other than a quarterback in the NFL.”

The above statement should be taken with a grain of salt as it says little about the strength of the offer because we don’t know the details, including what was the fully-guaranteed money.

Will Micah Parsons miss regular season games?

That remains to be seen despite Parsons’ social media edits. The superstar defender demanded a trade earlier in the month but he has attended practice every step of the way. Brian Schottenheimer said earlier this week he’s confident he will play in Week 1. Each regular season game missed would cost Parsons over $1 million.

The Cowboys play a preseason finale on Friday versus the Atlanta Falcons. If Parsons doesn’t show up, the message could become louder. If he does, however, it will be difficult to believe he’s about to sit out regular season games. It would be too costly for him. But if the relationship has deteriorated as much as some of the comments made by both parties suggest, it can’t be ruled out.
