ESPN proposed an NFL trade this week that involves a former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman.
With final roster cuts coming this week, ESPN suggested that the Kansas City Chiefs should trade former Vols offensive lineman Wanya Morris and a sixth round draft pick to the Atlanta Falcons for cornerback Clark Phillips.
Morris, a former five-star recruit, spent the first two seasons of his career at Tennessee before transferring to Oklahoma for his final two collegiate seasons.
The Chiefs selected Morris in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Morris started 11 games at left tackle for the Chiefs last season, but he was eventually benched in favor of Joe Thuney.
“Morris is a more valuable player than it might seem. He was better at right tackle than he was at left tackle, and the 2023 third-round pick will make $2.6 million over the next two seasons,” wrote ESPN’s Bill Barnwell. “In a market in which Dan Moore and current Chiefs lineman Jaylon Moore received $15 million or more per season in free agency, Morris would have meaningful value if he were on the open market. If the Chiefs plan to play (Kingsley) Suamataia at guard while using Moore as their swing tackle, they could justify trading Morris.”
Morris is a player that probably needs a change of scenery. He’s obviously a talented player, but he just hasn’t been able to find consistency in Kansas City.
The former Tennessee offensive lineman could be on the move this week.
