National recruiting analyst makes very strong statement about the Tennessee Vols’ 2026 recruiting class

247Sports’ Tom Loy, however, doesn’t believe the Vols will finish with the No. 11 class.
Instead, Loy believes Tennessee could be on the verge of landing a top-five class.
“In the end, Tennessee expects a Top 10 class this cycle, but I believe they will close in on Top 5 when all is said and done,” wrote Loy this week while discussing what he likes about the Vols’ 2026 class.
Tennessee currently has 23 players committed to its 2026 class, including five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon and five-star offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda. A couple of other commits, four-star athletes Joel Wyatt and Salesi Moa, are on the cusp of five-star status.
The Vols missed on a five-star recruit target last week in running back Savion Hiter (he committed to Michigan), but they could still add another five-star recruit to their 2026 class.
Tennessee is viewed as a major threat to flip five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys from the LSU Tigers. Keys has been committed to LSU since March, but he’s continued to talk often with the Vols (along with other programs such as Texas A&M and Miami).
If Tennessee learned anything from its loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff last season, it’s that top-five talent is needed in order to truly compete for a championship.
We’ll see if the Vols can finish with a top-five class in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Tom Loy certainly believes it’s possible.
