2027 five-star Kennedy Brown

Kingwood (Tex.) offensive tackle Kennedy Brown is a wanted man and then some. The 2027 prospect has offers from just about everyone – including Texas. And the Longhorns are up there among the early favorites. Now, the 6-foot-4, 290 pound prospect will return the favor with a potential visit this fall.

“Yessir, it might be later this season,” Brown said about his Austin visit.

The No. 1 overall prospect in the class also has visits planned to Notre Dame, Clemson, and Tennessee. Brown is the top prospect in the entire country as well at his position and in the state of Texas.

Earlier this summer, Kennedy Brown spoke with Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman about the early suitors.

“Their team is amazing,” said Brown, who has forged strong connections to multiple offensive linemen in Austin, including Nate Kibble and Colin Simmons. “Their team is truly great. Coach Flood is very down-to-earth. He’ll chew you out, but he gets you to where you want to be. He’s not gonna over-complicate things. Coach (Derron) Gatewood will talk to me about everything — from drills to giving advice. Coach Sark has been FaceTiming me, talking about the season … I love it.

“They produce to the NFL and they’ve shown that,” Brown continued. “Every time I see it, that attracts me more to Texas. They’ve been consistent and I like it.”

Oregon, Texas A&M, Oregon, Clemson, Penn State, SMU, and Georgia are the other main contenders right now.

247Sports’ national recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks says there’s already a lot to like about Kennedy Brown ahead of his junior year.

“Gifted offensive tackle prospect whose verified height belies elite frame length. Broad-shouldered build couples with enormous reach. Displays impressive movement ability in general, whether traveling in the run game or playing laterally in pass protection,” Brooks said. “Owns encouraging shot put numbers at this early stage. Impressive combine testing data in short-area athleticism reflect promising functional mobility in pads.

“Somewhat high-cut, but a capable bender who works for leverage. Plays with some segmentation at times but displays encouraging locomotion in general,” Brooks said. “Owns excellent tools in the form of huge tackle-specific features. Could easily see long-term development into a high-level left tackle or an elite right tackle.”

Notre Dame is another program sticking out early to the five-star talent.

“I’d say that (Notre Dame is) up there. I’m from Indiana, so I know how it is up there. And I always liked Notre Dame growing up because when I was in Indiana, I was always like a bandwagon fan,” Brown told 247Sports’ Eric Thomas. “And now, looking at it from a more mature point of view, I see that there’s more to it. They’re champions, and Notre Dame is just a great program all around.”

Brown is slated to be at Notre Dame Stadium for the home opener versus Texas A&M.
