Commanders 2025 Practice Squad Tracker: Live updates on building the 16-man practice squad to supplement the roster
A live tracker to keep up with the Commanders 2025 practice squad signings.
The deadline for the waiver wire claims has passed, and the Washington Commanders are bringing in players to build out the 16-man practice squad after roster cuts yesterday.
Here’s a tracker to keep up with the latest moves made by the Commanders, and important notes to remember about the Practice Squad as well. These players can become important pieces if they’re called up to the active roster.
Practice Squad Signings:
- WR Chris Moore
- CB Car’lin Vigers
- S Robert McDaniels
- WR Jacoby Jones
- QB Sam Hartman
- WR Ja’Corey Brooks
- DT Ricky Barber
- TE Lawrence Cager
- DT Sheldon Day
- C Michael Deiter
- CB Antonio Hamilton Sr.
- DE Jalyn Holmes
- DE T.J. Maguranyanga (International)
- G Timothy McKay
- RB Donovan Edwards
- CB Darius Rush
The team added 14 players to the practice squad on Wednesday, and they still have room for three more players if they wanted to add more. T.J. Maguranyanga is an International player so that allows the Commanders to have 17 players on the practice squad instead of 16.
I’ve added more additional notes and facts about how the practice squad opperates, and things to remember for when the season starts. The Commanders have availability on the roster to call up players on a weekly basis if they feel like it helps a certain matchup, or if they have to deal with any injuries.
Important Practice Squad Notes:
The NFL increased the size of the practice squad during COVID and kept some of the adjusted rules. Of the 16 players, 10 must be players with up to two accrued seasons, and there are no restrictions for the other six.
The league has also allowed a 17th player on the practice squad with a roster exemption as part of the International Pathway Program.
During the season, teams can elevate practice squad players for gameday. Each player can be elevated up to three times for the same time without being a member of the active 53-man roster. After the game, the player reverts back to the PS. For the playoffs, there is no limit on elevations for each individual player, even though any team can only elevate two players per game.
