Brentwood Academy (Tenn.) wide receiver Kesean Bowman took a break from high school life and tripped to Columbus, Ohio for Texas-Ohio State last weekend. Afterwards, the Oregon commit was so impressed with what he saw from the Longhorns, he tells Rivals’ Chad Simmons he has planned a visit.
The 6-foot-1, 174 pound 2027 prospect will make his way to Austin, Tex., for the matchup between Texas and Vanderbilt.
Bowman committed to Oregon at the end of July. But, this one is long from over, according to folks around the Nashville area. He was at Ohio State last weekend, now plans to see Texas, and will probably take a few more trips to Power 4 blue bloods.
Tennessee is right down the road and is going to continue to recruit him. Georgia has offered and has dipped into the Volunteer State a few times in past cycles. And the Auburn Tigers are going to push as well.
247Sports national scouting analyst Gabe Brooks likes Kesean Bowman’s game.
“Lean, wiry strong outside receiver who consistently makes plays in the short-to-intermediate passing game and in aerial situations. Faster top-end speedsters exist; however, speed-varying nuance is advanced,” Brooks said. “Wins with impressive acceleration and the ability to shift up and down deftly, particularly within 20 yards. Fast enough downfield with the testing data to support that.
“Strong two-way snaps at receiver and cornerback. Could legitimately play P4 ball at either spot. Major production as a sophomore with 50-plus catches, 1,000-plus yards, and eight touchdowns. Above average route runner at this stage thanks to hip-sinking flexibility; fuels sudden breaks and top-of-route juice,” Brooks said. “Lean and narrow through the core, but broad-shouldered and longer-armed to regularly expand the catch radius.
“Flashes body control and timing acumen to make contested catches. Projects to the high-major level as a potential multi-year impact player with a long-term ceiling beyond college.”
Still, for now he is committed to the Oregon Ducks.
“When I stepped foot on campus, it was mesmerizing,” said Bowman in a recent interview with 247Sports’ Tom Loy. “Me and coach Douglas have had so many conversations, and we hit it off since our very first one. We have a great relationship. Nobody else, no other school has been talking to me as much or as long as them. That relationship is next level. On Wednesday, we talked again and it made me realize I wanted to commit to play for them and I realized that was home.”
As a sophomore, Bowman finished the year with 56 receptions for 1,023 yards and eight touchdowns despite inconsistent quarterback play. This season with a new signal caller and a more aggressive aerial attack, he could be in for a big junior year.
Bowman is ranked as the 36th overall prospect in the 2027 class. He is also the No. 6 wideout and Tennessee’s 2nd-ranked recruit.
