The Kansas City Chiefs opened the season against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil on Friday evening.

Former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott, however, wasn’t on the field for the Chiefs.

Norman-Lott, a second round selection by the Chiefs in the 2025 NFL Draft, was among Kansas City’s inactives against the Chargers.

The former Tennessee defensive lineman missed the game — which the Chargers won 27-21 — due to an ankle injury.

Omarr Norman-Lott has added significant weight since getting drafted by the Chiefs

Norman-Lott has added a considerable amount of weight since taking part in the NFL scouting combine this past winter.

The California native weighed 291 lbs at the combine in late February. Norman-Lott is currently listed at 315 lbs on the Chiefs’ official website.

AtoZ Sports’ Charles Goldman noted in July that Norman-Lott was already the second-heaviest interior defensive lineman on the Chiefs’ roster (behind Chris Jones).

It’s unclear if the quickly added weight contributed to Norman-Lott’s ankle injury. Either way, Norman-Lott’s rookie season certainly didn’t get off to the start the former Vol was hoping for.

Kansas City will return to action in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles. We’ll see if Norman-Lott is able to make his NFL debut in that matchup.
