Pulling off a rare feat in college football is especially impressive because of how many games are played each week and the randomness that comes with student-athletes. The talent gap can be massive, and Texas A&M proved that as they dominated Utah State in its 44-22 win this past week. At the core of that win was a defense that had some huge highlight plays.

Mike Elko’s Texas A&M defense hasn’t had it easy as they replace Shemar Stewart, Shemar Turner, Nic Scourton, and BJ Mayes. But they might have another future star in the making in Cashius Howell. Howell had a sequence that couldn’t be ignored.

I’ve never seen one player log three straight sacks to end a drive, but Howell did it.

Cashius Howell Logs Three-Straight Sacks for Texas A&M

The 6-foot-2 senior joined Texas A&M from Bowling Green before the 2024 season and became a rotational pass-rusher. He’s been tremendously productive in terms of creating pressure throughout his career despite not being a great run defender at 248 pounds. He’s totaled 99 pressures and 19 sacks over five seasons, per PFF.

Three of those sacks came in three consecutive plays this weekend, and his freakish athleticism will have NFL draft scouts drooling over the tools.

“Texas A&M ED Cashius Howell just had back-to-back-to-back sacks on 1st, 2nd & 3rd downs. Literally ended the drive himself. Never seen that before.

Here’s the sack from 3rd down. Little ghost move with good dip and speed. Kid is going to get drafted HIGH next April if he declares,” Trevor Sikkema of PFF tweeted.

And with that, the hype train for Howell will rise. His new workload increase will provide him with the runway to significantly improve his skill set and production in the SEC. We’ll be following closely each week.
