The Tennessee Vols are looking to take advantage this weekend of a potential recruiting mistake by another Power-4 program.
2026 four-star edge rusher Andrew Rogers has been committed to the Virginia Tech Hokies since late last month.
Rogers, however, is still open to checking out other schools. The Greensboro, NC native was supposed to be in Blacksburg on Saturday for the Hokies’ game against Old Dominion. But instead, he’ll be in Knoxville for the Vols’ matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs.
According to Rogers, Virginia Tech canceled his previously planned official visit for this weekend.
“The coaching staff canceled my visit,” said Rogers to 247Sports. “I don’t know when they are rescheduling it for.”
Rogers, 6-foot-6/240 lbs, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 32 edge in the nation and the No. 18 player in the state of North Carolina.
The four-star edge rusher is teammates at Grimsley High School with 2026 Vols five-star quarterback commit Faizon Brandon.
The atmosphere at the Tennessee vs Georgia game could make a big impact on Andrew Rogers
Virginia Tech’s decision to cancel Rogers’ official visit this weekend means that the talented recruit could end up experiencing one of the best college football atmospheres of the season.
Neyland Stadium is expected to be a wild atmosphere on Saturday when the Bulldogs come to town. The atmosphere for a Virginia Tech home game is great, but it can’t compare to what Neyland Stadium has to offer (especially for a big SEC showdown).
If the Vols decide to put the full court press on Rogers, it could be very difficult for the Hokies to hold on to the four-star recruit’s commitment.
