Final score prediction for New England vs. Miami: Does the Dolphins’ players-only meeting spark healthy change in Week 2 or fuel a 2025 spiral?
Who claims a win in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL regular season between these AFC East rivals?
The Miami Dolphins are hosting a familiar face in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL regular season, as the New England Patriots come to town. It’s the first time we’ll see Miami kicking off a game at Hard Rock Stadium, the South Florida friendly confines which figure to be hosting plenty of animated fans. Whether they’re ready to cheer or boo the Fins is a different story — and Patriots fans have been able to find their way to this stadium in the past as well.
But one thing that won’t be entering into the stadium is a team with a win already. Both the Patriots and the Dolphins are looking to log one in the win column, with Miami going so far as holding a players-only meeting this week to stay on the same page.
Will it help?
Final score prediction for Patriots vs. Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 2

The layers here are fascinating. Tua Tagovailoa has never lost a start to the Patriots. Mike Vrabel has never lost to the Dolphins. New England’s offensive line struggled with protection for Drake Maye in Week 1. The Dolphins have a whole new right side of their offensive line this week after right tackle Austin Jackson was ruled out. Christian Gonzalez is set to miss this contest for New England. The Dolphins walked into Week 1 with two healthy tight ends. New England couldn’t stop conceding explosive plays in Week 1 — the Dolphins haven’t had much in the way of explosive plays in the last year.
Both these teams endured chaotic Week 1 matchups. This one feels like it’s going to have a little bit of everything.
The Dolphins are at home, which should help streamline their pre-snap orchestration issues. They’ve often been a pain point under Mike McDaniel and they were once again at times in Week 1. But the disruption to the offensive line threatens progress made there and the Patriots have an effective front. I would suspect Vrabel will charge his defense with getting physical at the line of scrimmage and dare Tua Tagovailoa to stand in and work down the field with the compromised line or plug the Dolphins to run their way to victory. Has Mike McDaniel ever done that for 60 minutes?
I do expect the Dolphins defense to be much better. Cornerback Rasul Douglas is an experienced player and now set to start after being inserted into the game mid-way through in Week 1. The Dolphins should look to adjust their coverage spacing out of necessity as well, they were giving too much free access to the Colts.
My prediction is not a lot of points. But I will hang my hat on this — Tua Tagovailoa is many things. Polarizing first and foremost. He has his limitations and he has his warts. But he’s a better caliber of quarterback than how he played in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. I expect him to show it on Sunday.
Final Score Prediction
Patriots: 23 — Dolphins: 24
