Following a Week 2 bye, Notre Dame is set to take on Texas A&M this Saturday in South Bend, aiming to secure their first victory of the season after a tough loss to Miami in Week 1. The Fighting Irish are under pressure, as a second straight defeat could severely jeopardize their College Football Playoff hopes.

On the latest College GameDay podcast, ESPN analysts Rece Davis and Pete Thamel shared their predictions for this high-stakes matchup. Davis is leaning toward Notre Dame, while Thamel is siding with Texas A&M, setting the stage for a compelling clash.

Their analysis wasn’t so far off from what our roundtable of experts predicted, either.

ESPN Splits Texas A&M vs. Notre Dame Pick

“I’m going to take Gig ‘Em here,” Thamel explained. “It was a coin-flip game last year — a trench game, low scoring. I think Marcel Reed’s experience could lead to him having a breakout, signature victory.”

However, Davis didn’t agree with his colleague: “Give me Notre Dame,” he responded. “I think, in prime time at home, Notre Dame’s defense will be good enough. I’ll take the Irish.”

Current betting odds from sportsbooks favor Notre Dame by 6.5 points, with a moneyline of -220 for the Irish and +180 for the Aggies. The over/under is set at 50.5 points, suggesting a potentially high-scoring affair.

Notre Dame can draw confidence from their recent history against Texas A&M. Last season, the Irish traveled to College Station and secured a 10-point win, pulling ahead in the second half after a 6-6 tie at halftime.

Quarterback Riley Leonard had a modest passing performance, completing 18 of 30 passes for 158 yards without a touchdown, but he added 63 yards on the ground. The running back duo of Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price stole the show, with Love rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown and Price contributing 44 yards and another score.

Texas A&M, meanwhile, struggled offensively in that game. Quarterback Conner Weigman completed just 12 of 30 passes for 100 yards, throwing two interceptions and adding only 26 rushing yards. Running back Le’Veon Moss provided a spark for the Aggies, rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

With both teams eager to make a statement, this matchup promises intensity and drama. Can Notre Dame rebound from their early-season stumble, or will Texas A&M turn the tables and claim victory in South Bend? Fans are gearing up for an electrifying battle.
