The game didn’t end anywhere near the way it started for the Jacksonville Jaguars, as they started in a way that could have had them up 14-0 on the Cincinnati Bengals on the road. Instead, Trevor Lawrence, Liam Coen, and the rest of the team folded in the final few minutes to lose the game.

And, we saw a moment between the star quarterback and the new head coach.

Lawrence and Coen have a completely normal sideline moment vs. Bengals

All of the great head coach-quarterback combos in the NFL have their moments where they don’t agree with each other, or something of that nature. The Jaguars had one of their own, but the only kicker there is that those two are not a great all-time duo. In fact, they just played their second game together.

So, when you see Lawrence throw a ball to Brown, and it hits Brown’s hands above his head, and not in his chest during a goal-to-go situation to take the lead late in the game, and then Coen on the sideline yelling at him, that’s normal, right? Coen was yelling at Lawrence to hit Brown in the chest, and Lawrence waved him off, almost like a “yeah, yeah” moment. Or, almost like him saying whatever to his head coach. That’s normal, but it’s not something I think anyone was expecting to see, especially not in the second week of these two’s careers together. That’s more so something you see from a pair that has been together for a while.

However, I think it’s important to remember how much Lawrence has been through, especially when it comes to coaches. He’s had numerous offensive coordinators, quarterbacks coaches, and head coaches in his short career so far. So, that’s certainly something to think about. However, if it makes anyone feel better, Coen spoke about how proud he was of Lawrence after the game, despite the loss.

“We can win with him playing like that, and obviously limiting the turnovers… I was very proud of the competitor that he was today,” Coen told reporters after the game.

The Jaguars are 1-1 now, with a win over the Carolina Panthers last week and a loss this week. Next week, they’ll be playing the Houston Texans, in what could end up being a huge game for the division, especially with the Indianapolis Colts currently losing to the Denver Broncos at halftime.
