We all saw the Washington Commanders face a nightmare of a loss against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football, and the team got banged up a lot in the physical matchup.

The Commanders lost starting defensive end Deatrich Wise and starting running back Austin Ekeler for the season, along with a lot of other key players who were either in pain or left the game and never came back. One of those other players happened to be the one guy you never want to see hurt, your franchise quarterback.

Jayden Daniels’ injury concerns

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was sacked four times and hit 12 times, and that’s not even counting all the hits he took on his seven carries. I lost count of how many times Daniels was hit by a Packers defender, and late in the game, it started happening too often. Late in the fourth quarter, Daniels went down awkwardly on a tackle and came up limping right away.

Daniels is as competitive as it gets, and even when the game seemed out of reach, he was still giving it his all against the best defense in the league, which gave the offensive line fits all game long. He had absolutely no help against the Packers’ pass rush, and he took way too many unnecessary hits, which may have caused a knee injury that has some concerns.

Daniels had his knee looked at

Reports say that Daniels had an MRI after the game to look at his knee, which makes a ton of sense and isn’t surprising at all. As JP Finlay mentioned in the tweet above, there are some concerns with the knee, but nothing major at this time.

Head coach Dan Quinn will speak to the media with an injury update for the entire team on Monday, as he stated in the post-game press conference, and Daniels will obviously be the big headline. Daniels may miss some practice time early in the week with an extended break since they played Thursday, and that would be the right call. Jay Glazer also said Daniels is “day-to-day”, and the team will look at him again on Monday.

You obviously don’t want Daniels to miss any games, especially with Marcus Mariota recently recovering from his own injury, but you also want to protect your franchise quarterback for the long haul. We will have to see what updates Quinn gives on Monday afternoon, but don’t be surprised if Daniels misses a few days, and the players have off Tuesday as well, and practice Wednesday through Friday. My guess is that Daniels wears a brace on his knee when he does practice, and in the game as well on Sunday if he plays.
