Sean McVay suffered an injury no NFL player ever wants to endure during the Rams’ blowout win over Titans
McVay is nursing an injury of his own now.
The Los Angeles Rams have a new injury that won’t appear on this week’s injury report. Instead, the most vital part of their coaching staff is dealing with an injury that no NFL player ever wants to deal with during his career.
Rams HC Sean McVay suffers injury during win against Titans
According to the Rams head coach himself, McVay tore his plantar fascia while coaching versus the Titans in Week 2. Los Angeles beat Tennessee, 33-19.
“Foot’s good,” said McVay. “I did tear my plantar fascia, so yeah. Well, that’s a good thing, because I guess it allows you to heal a little faster. But I was being dramatic, limping around towards the end of the game, but the MRI confirmed I did that.”
“Good news is I’m not playing. I’m just on the sidelines watching, so if I have a little cool limp to add some swag, then you’ll know why.” — ESPN
The Rams coach is known for how active he is on the sideline during games. As a younger HC, he moves around aimlessly bit better than many of his NFL coaching counterparts. McVay is still just 39 years old. McVay revealed the details on his injury via the “Coach McVay Show” produced by the Rams.
The plantar fascia injury is a painful one, and many NFL players have dealt with it over the years. While they wouldn’t wish it on anyone, his Rams players are probably glad they are not dealing with this ailment going forward.
“The injury is usually quite painful and therefore initial treatment is generally oriented towards pain control with ice, crutches and limited activity. As the symptoms begin to settle, often 4-10 days after the original injury, it may be possible to do more weight bearing, provided that stiff soled comfort shoes or a protective walker boot is used. At this point, gentle plantar stretching can be done. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (NSAIDs) or pain medication can help with the symptoms. Return to reasonably normal standing or walking can occur relatively quickly in a few weeks.” — feetmd.com
For the Rams, they’ll attempt to get some wins to make McVay feel better in the meantime.
Los Angeles will look to improve to 3-0 against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3.
