Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel confirmed on Wednesday that a true freshman playmaker will miss this weekend’s matchup against UAB.

Heupel told reporters during the weekly SEC coaches teleconference that true freshman wide receiver Radarious Jackson will be out this week.

“I don’t have a full update here,” said Heupel when asked about Jackson. “Obviously, you guys can pay attention to injury reports that come out, although it may not this week. But he’ll be out for this game, and we’ll kind of see where he’s at the following week.”

Jackson is a former four-star recruit from Memphis who signed with Tennessee during the 2025 recruiting cycle. He was rated by 247Sports as the No. 30 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 8 player in the state of Tennessee.

Tennessee Vols wide receiver Radarious Jackson is expected to miss “about a month”

VolQuest’s Austin Price, who was the first to report the injury, said on Tuesday during an appearance on 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will that Jackson will likely miss about a month while dealing with a collarbone injury.

Jackson suffered the injury in Tennessee’s 44-41 overtime loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.

“They did lose Radarious Jackson on Saturday,” said Price. “And he’ll miss probably about a month or so with a collarbone type deal — which is not ideal, considering they’re not super deep (at wide receiver). But I think you have to be really, really pleased with what this group (UT’s wide receivers) has gotten done the first three games.”

Jackson is a dynamic player who provides important depth for the Volunteers. Fellow true freshmen wide receivers Travis Smith Jr and Joakim Dodson should each see extra game reps with Jackson sidelined.
