This week marked a pivotal moment for SEC football fans, as the conference unveiled future scheduling plans that will shape the landscape for years to come. Monday brought clarity for LSU’s annual matchups, confirming that the Tigers will consistently face Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Arkansas over the next four seasons.
Just over a day later, the SEC rolled out the remainder of LSU’s 2026 schedule, along with opponents for the following three years.
In 2026, LSU kicks off the season at home against Clemson. The Tigers will also host Texas A&M, Alabama, Mississippi State, and Texas in Baton Rouge. Road games that year include trips to Arkansas, Ole Miss, Auburn, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
LSU future SEC schedules announced through 2029
The 2027 campaign features away games at A&M, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina, while LSU will welcome Arkansas, Ole Miss, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt to Tiger Stadium.
While exact dates and kickoff times are still to be announced, one key scheduling detail is that each SEC team will face the other 12 conference members—excluding their three permanent opponents—twice over the next four years, alternating home-and-away. This structure means some seasons will feature four home conference games, while others will include five, maintaining the nine-game league format.
Looking ahead to 2028, LSU will travel to Texas A&M, Alabama, Mississippi State, and Texas, and host Arkansas, Ole Miss, Auburn, Kentucky, and Tennessee. In 2029, the Tigers will hit the road to face Arkansas, Ole Miss, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt, while playing host to A&M, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
Last week, Brian Kelly shared insights into the decision-making process behind LSU’s trio of permanent opponents.
“It’s been an open conversation with every meeting we’ve had with the athletic directors and any of our SEC meetings,” Kelly said. “It’s been constantly at the top of the agenda. Everybody’s quite aware of what is out there. I’ve said this from day one, I think you could make a case for a half dozen teams that would be that natural rival. But there’s other teams that want those games as well.
“I think they’ll come up with a good rationale for it. We’ll play whoever they tell us to play. I’ve heard everybody talk about what they would prefer. For me, I just wanna play what would naturally be our rivals. This is the athletic directors and our commissioner.”
When asked about his involvement in selecting Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Arkansas, and how fairness factors into annual matchups, Kelly responded: “Certainly some feel as though they’re going to get the short end of this and others are going to feel like they got a good deal. I think at the end of the day, all of those factors will play a part in what the decision ultimately ends up being.”
