The Tennessee Vols will head to Starkville this weekend to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

This is the first road game of the season for Tennessee, which is 3-1 after suffering an overtime loss to the Georgia Bulldogs earlier this month.

Mississippi State, meanwhile, is 4-0 with a win over Arizona State. This will be Mississippi State’s first SEC game of the season.

Former Georgia defensive lineman David Pollack predicts winner of Mississippi State vs Tennessee

Former Georgia defensive lineman David Pollack made his picks for this week’s biggest games on his YouTube channel on Wednesday.

Pollack thinks one thing working in Tennessee’s advantage is that the Vols won’t be overlooking Mississippi State due to the Bulldogs’ hot start to the season.

“I trust Tennessee,” said Pollack. “Tennessee is going to get healthier, which I think is a good thing. But I will say this, the good thing for Tennessee is that Mississippi State started good. So the likelihood of overlooking is not there.”

“I don’t think Mississippi State’s offense has found greatness by any stretch,” continued Pollack. “But can their defense keep them in it? Tennessee is so explosive, and that’s where they can make the big plays. But the cowbells are annoying as piss. They’re in your ear the whole time. You hear it on the broadcast the whole time. It makes a difference. It can swing a game. Can they get a few breaks? Can they get a tip? Can they get a fumble? Can they make something like that happen?”

Ultimately, Pollack has Tennessee winning the game.

“I got the Volunteers,” said Pollack.

Tennessee and Mississippi State will kick off at 4:15 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will air on the SEC Network.
