The Denver Broncos are looking to bounce back after a devastating last-second loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Quarterback Bo Nix struggled at times through the contest, missing a couple of key throws that could have swung the game back in Denver’s favor. He wasn’t solely to blame for the loss, but Nix admitted after the game that he needs to capitalize on those opportunities.

The team got some good news heading into their Week 4 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on ‘Monday Night Football,’ and Nix has to be thrilled. Tight end Evan Engram was able to practice on Thursday and looks to be trending in the right direction. Nonetheless, his status for Week 4 is unclear, with the team still a few days away from an official designation.

Engram was one of the bigger offseason acquisitions for the Broncos, and someone they hoped to rely on in the passing game, along with his abilities in pass and run protection. The veteran shined during the preseason, giving Broncos Country plenty to be excited about, even with limited reps.

Unfortunately, injuries have soured the early stages of his 2025 season, with multiple ailments piling up, forcing Engram to miss out on some important reps and even be sidelined for the Week 3 contest against the Chargers.

Through the early parts of 2025, Engram has totaled four catches for 33 yards, a far cry from what head coach Sean Payton and the front office were hoping to get out of the nine-year NFL veteran.

Getting healthy is of the utmost importance, and allowing Nix yet another weapon in the offense will go a long way toward the team correcting some of the issues that have plagued them through the early goings. The sky isn’t falling, but some issues need to be corrected moving forward, and Denver has a perfect opportunity to do that on ‘Monday Night Football.’

Engram is trending in the right direction, and all eyes are going to be on Denver over the next few days to see if he can be healthy enough to compete on game day.

Another big-ticket free agent is missing time

It’s not just Engram who has missed time in 2025, as linebacker Dre Greenlaw was also a big part of the plan for Denver heading into the season. A calf injury sustained during the offseason has forced Denver to place Greenlaw on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least four weeks.

Denver’s defense is going to get a huge boost once Greenlaw returns, whenever that may be. For now, Engram and the offense look to be at or near full strength heading into Week 4.
