Kevin Stefanski refuses to place sole blame on the biggest problem the Browns have after Cleveland’s loss to the Detroit Lions
Cleveland couldn’t make it 2-0 on the season and weren’t all that competitive against the Lions.
The Cleveland Browns are a 1-3 football team coming out of Week 4’s blowout loss to the Detroit Lions. Cleveland quite frankly looked the opposite of a well-balanced attack that the Lions are in a 34-10 loss on the road. The hope for the Browns was that they could carry over success from beating the Green Bay Packers at home but that wasn’t the case.
Cleveland’s defense played well much of this game and Detroit only finished with 277 total yards. It was the offense of the Browns as well as special team errors that never gave them a chance in this one. Turnovers, drops, and even penalties were a problem for the Browns on the road.
Kevin Stefanski is not ready to talk about a quarterback change for the Browns
Coming out of the game, Stefanski isn’t placing the blame on the shoulders of Joe Flacco, who was 16-of-34 passing for 184 yards and two interceptions against Detroit. Quinshon Judkins ran the ball 21 times for 82 yards and busted open a few good runs, Cleveland is clearly trying to build a running presence and it is slowly growing. However, the quarterback play is another problem and Flacco’s immobility in the pocket is hindering the offense that is already behind with a bad offensive line.
“We own this all together,” Stefanski said after the game. “To have success on any side of the ball we have to play as one, we have to play together. We had too many things that caused us not to have success.”
Cleveland’s top wideout on the day was undrafted free agent rookie Isaiah Bond and he’s showing growth with three catches for 58 yards. Jerry Jeudy didn’t reel in a couple of passes that he should have and continues to not be himself, but he still had three grabs for 48 yards. With the poor quarterback play the Browns are getting, they’re beating themselves even worse by the errors or drops, turnovers, penalties, and sacks given up. Count in a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown allowed and it was a rough, rough week for the Browns.
