Lions give big injury updates on D.J. Reed and Terrion Arnold, and one could be out for a while
We’ve got out first information on both Lions’ startign cornerbacks
The Detroit Lions’ defense looked good in their 34-10 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Unfortunately, the Lions lost two key pieces in that game. D.J. Reed was carted off with a hamstring injury, and while he was never downgraded from questionable to out, he never returned. Terrion Arnold left with a shoulder injury and also never returned.
Lions give updates on D.J. Reed and Terrion Arnold
“…I don’t know, we all saw Reed’s, you know. I don’t know what that’s going to be or how long. I mean, certainly I cannot imagine him playing next week at a minimum, till we get more tests done,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Sunday after the game. “And I don’t think T.A. (Arnold) is a major thing. Now I don’t know there again. I don’t know about him next week, but it’s certainly not as significant as what you know is what Reed had.”
So there’s your baseline information at this time. It sounds like Reed’s injury will potentially cost him some time. We’ll get more information on that likely on Monday or Wednesday. The same applies to Arnold’s, although it seems the Lions don’t consider that a major issue.
As for the Lions’ roster, they have Amik Robertson, who played quite well on the outside last year and even in this game, although he allowed a 35-yard catch the moment he took over. Rock Ya-Sin has been a starter before here and there, and Avonte Maddox can play anywhere in the secondary. We haven’t seen a lot of Khalil Dorsey on defense since 2023. He’s primarily been a gunner and a pretty good one — maybe one of the best in the league.
The Lions don’t have any corners on their practice squad, so it wouldn’t be a shock if they tried out some players this week or maybe made a phone call or two.
