Browns just made an NFL trade to start the week, and it had everything to do with one of the biggest issues in Cleveland
A move that makes sense for the Browns to start the week.
The Cleveland Browns are a 1-3 football team with a terrible offense through the season’s first four weeks. Cleveland is struggling at quarterback with Joe Flacco, and his wide receivers have let him down at times, as well as his protection. The Browns have made a move to address one of their problems, and it makes sense after the Week 4 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Cleveland bringing in OT Cam Robinson from the Houston Texans is a move that makes sense
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Browns have swapped late-round picks with the Houston Texans in the 2027 NFL Draft for OT Cam Robinson. Robinson, who attended the University of Alabama, is in his ninth year and is being traded for a second consecutive year. Robinson made one start in three games played for the Texans this season and gave up just one pressure in his only game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Cleveland clearly looked at the Detroit game to evaluate their duo of KT Leveston and Cornelius Lucas, which is the combo with RT Jack Conklin sidelined and LT Dawand Jones out for the season. The Browns could get Conklin back from an elbow injury on Sunday against the Vikings, and the ideal move is for Robinson to be the left tackle this season. In 17 starts last season between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Texans, Robinson received a 64.7 Pro Football Focus grade.
Robinson is a better pass blocker than run blocker at 6-6, 335 pounds. Flacco was sacked three times on Sunday against the Lions, but the Browns were under immense pressure all game. The Browns went into the season hoping that Jones could be their left tackle, but he was hit with another tough knee injury. Things have gone against the plan, and the Browns are now having to go to other options.
Cam Robinson vs. Rams in Week 1 via PFF
- 59 snaps
- 1 pressure
- 1 penalty
- 66.3 offensive grade
Robinson makes sense for the Browns as a player who can step in and provide a higher floor at offensive tackle, which is what they need. With the Week 5 game in London, it may be too soon for Robinson to be out there on Sunday. That’ll be something worth monitoring this week, but it’s a smart move by Cleveland to start the week.
