Micah Parsons says it all about Dak Prescott’s performance with morning-after choice of words for Dallas Cowboys quarterback
The former Dallas Cowboys star had a monstrous yet quiet game in Week 4. This explains why.
NBC made sure you knew you were watching Micah Parsons’ return to AT&T Stadium on Sunday night when the Dallas Cowboys hosted the Green Bay Packers for a Week 4 showdown that resulted on a bittersweet 40-40 tie. But you might’ve forgotten because of Parsons’ seeming lack of impact plays.
Though Parsons’ game didn’t feature a sack until overtime, however, he did pressure Dak Prescott consistently. In film, you can watch Parsons beat his blocks consistently while forcing the Cowboys quarterback to act quickly. In fact, according to Pro Football Focus, Parsons recorded ten pressures over the course of the game. So why didn’t it feel like he had a monster game?
Well, Parsons’ message to Prescott on Monday says it all.
Parsons recognizes Dak Prescott’s big game in Week 4
“Great game 4,” posted Parsons on X (formerly Twitter) besides a handshake emoji.
Though it’s a simple message, the context is important. Former Cowboys player and now NFL Network‘s analyst Brian Baldinger posted one of his social media famous “Baldy’s Breakdowns” videos in which he broke down how Prescott’s ability to get rid of the football quickly neutralized many of Parsons’ otherwise successful rushes.
“He’s winning his pass rushes,” Baldinger says in the video. “To Dak’s credit and to (Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer’s) credit, he had a gameplan. [. . .] He won his pass rushes all night long but Dak was just sensational.”
Postgame, Parsons praised Prescott when asked about his own performance and he was on the same page as Baldinger is in his analysis.
“Hey, bro, I think he’s getting pressured all night,” Parsons told reporters. “You go watch that All-22, and you look how precise no. 4 looked tonight. Just getting to his throws, getting to his receivers, the timing. I think he played a better game than we played defense. Shout out to Dak. I told him, I said, you go watch that film, you lucky. If he wasn’t on your (expletive), it would have been a long day. It would have been a real long day for you. But he played a hell of a game, and I give him kudos for that.”
As for Prescott, he also had positive words for Parsons postgame.
“I just told him I’m proud of him,” Prescott said Sunday night. “Just stay healthy and stay at it. He said he’d see me again soon. It was fun competing against him.”
For all the animosity between the Cowboys and Parsons since the trade, including recent comments directed toward Jerry Jones, it’s at least nice to see Prescott and Parsons recognizing each other’s play.
