Keeping an eye on pros once they leave your favorite college is always fun. For the Texas A&M Aggies, Nnamdi Madubuike has been a star on defense for the Baltimore Ravens.

Unfortunately, the former A&M game wrecker is headed to the shelf for the remainder of this season. His future in the NFL is now up in the air due to his neck injury, too.

Former Texas A&M DL Nnamdi Madubuike is out for the season for Ravens

The best defensive lineman for Baltimore is headed toward a season-long injured reserve stint. He has already been placed on IR, but head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that Madubuike is done for the rest of the year. The Ravens selected Madubuike out of Texas A&M 71st overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The former Aggie signed a four-year, $98 million contract extension with the Ravens in the Spring of 2024, and the massive deal includes $75.5 million in guaranteed money.

“In terms of what I’m allowed to tell you, a lot of that is something he needs to address with you guys in his time. I really can’t speak for him, I wouldn’t want to. Those are questions that would be best answered by him going forward and he may be still getting some information on that as well. (I’ll) leave that for him to answer.” — Ravens head coach John Harbaugh on the long-term outlook of Nnamdi Madubuike’s neck injury

The biggest concern is, of course, the lineman’s long-term health for both on and off the football field. Harbaugh was not willing to answer any questions regarding the injury affecting the rest of his career, which was completely understandable.

“Harbaugh says in his news conference they Nnamdi Madubuike is out for year. As for questions about whether the neck injury could jeopardize his career, Harbaugh said those questions are for Madubuike to address.” — Jeff Zrebiec

It’s an unfortunate day of news for the former Aggies star. In three seasons with Texas A&M, Madubuike totaled 11 sacks, 26 tackles for loss, four pass deflections, and five forced fumbles. Hopefully, he will be able to make a full recovery from this injury situation.

Texas A&M (4-0) will play Mississippi State (4-1) this weekend.
