Denver got back into the win column after a dominant performance against the Cincinnati Bengals under the bright lights of “Monday Night Football.”

The defense looked as advertised, and quarterback Bo Nix had one of his best games of his early career. It was a much-needed victory for the Broncos, who were coming off back-to-back last-second losses.

Nix was the ultimate professional after the game, with a message about how he’s blocked out the noise and focused on the game at hand.

His growth through the early stages of his career has been beyond impressive, and Nix was asked about his ability to block out the noise after a few tough losses.

“There’s always going to be noise, I’m sure,” Nix said. “After this win, people are going to have a lot they want to see us fix or whatever. There’s always noise, there’s always ways to improve. It’s a little bit better of a feeling once you win the game, watching it again, and fixing those mistakes, cause you know you win.

“The last few weeks have stunk because you lose the game, and you know there’s so much that you missed or so many opportunities that you had, so it’s a lot better on the winning side,” Nix added. “We know it’s the same type of mentality and mindset to go out there and get better.”

Nix finished with career highs of 29 completions and 326 yards, along with two passing touchdowns and one rushing score.

Nix to Sutton connection is legit

Undoubtedly, Nix’s best touchdown came right at the end of the first half. With virtually no time on the clock, the second-year signal caller connected with his favorite target in receiver Courtland Sutton.

The veteran receiver finished his day with five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown

Nix broke down how the team pulled it off in the closing moments of the first half.

“It was an interesting situation there at the end because we had a good plan, and they got the penalty,” Nix said. “That kind of threw us off a little bit as far as if the clock was continue to run. After that, it was down to about 13 seconds, you got to really hurry [ . . . ] we decided to get a play to the endzone and with the personnel we had out there, we just had to make it work. It was impressive to see the guys make it work.

“Wasn’t what I think he imagined or planned, but it worked out in my favor [ . . . ] little bit of chaos, but we made it work, find Court and throw it to him,” Nix offered.

Jobs not done for Denver

While the victory was great, the team has a short week with an upcoming matchup against the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles. Nix was asked about the momentum the victory over the Bengals brings the team, all while focusing on the upcoming matchup.

“It’s huge, any win in the league is momentum,” Nix said. “It’s a short week, so we don’t have a lot of time to think about it. We’re going to be in Philly soon; it’s an important week. We have to get back to the basics and really figure out what’s holding us back, why we still have penalties, and how we can avoid certain situations.

“They’re going to be a good defense; they have been for a while,” Nix continued. “They’re going to have good players, they’re going to have a good scheme. We have to do a good job, we have to play really efficiently, and make explosive plays, find ways to create explosive plays. We gotta just do a good job, and it’s going to be tough, but that’s why we practice throughout this week, it’s going to be important.”

Offense, defense, and special teams were firing on all cylinders during the contest, making life difficult for the Bengals. Denver hopes to carry over some of that success into its Week 5 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

For Nix and the Broncos, Monday night was proof of progress. The question now is whether they can carry that growth into Philadelphia against one of the NFL’s best.
