Two major Texas Longhorns players are expected to be available Saturday against the Florida Gators
Great news for Texas heading into the SEC opener.
On Thursday, 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported both Emmett Mosley V and Tre Wisner are expected to play this weekend when Texas takes on Florida.
The Longhorns, the No. 9 team in the country, are opening up SEC play in the Swamp. But, Steve Sarkisian’s program has not had Wisner since the opener versus Ohio State and Mosley, the Stanford transfer, has yet to suit up for Texas.
“He’s got a leg injury that we held him today, and we just didn’t think it was the right thing to do to kind of force the issue with him,” Sarkisian said after the Ohio State. “I wanted Christian to play more. I wanted Jerrick to get opportunities. And so it worked out for us that way.”

Saturday is going to be loud, but Texas is preparing accordingly.
Steve Sarkisian praised Tre Wisner’s dedication to being a leader.
“I don’t know if we have a better leader on our team right now than Tre Wisner – the energy he provides, the positivity he brings every day,” Sarkisian said on the 3rd and Longhorn podcast this summer.
Jerrick Gibson and Christian Clark stepped up in Wisner’s absence. But, if Texas wants to make another run, it needs its returning leading rusher from 2024.
“Me and Cedric, we came in together,” Wisner said before the 2025 season. “So, there’s nothing like being able to play with the running back that you came into college with. He went down last year, so that kind of tilted things. But just being able to have him back in the room with us, and me and him attacking defenses like we’re about to – it’s going to be crazy.”
Emmett Mosley V should play Saturday and be a key cog.
Sarkisian answered the media’s questions with fans becoming frustrated the former Stanford standout has yet to play.
“He’s been limited. I think we all would want him to be able to have been going the whole time with us right now. … For him, the growth is going to be as the season continues to go.”
When he does play, though, Sarkisian likens his game to former Longhorn and current Green Bay Packer, Matthew Golden.
“When Matt came to us from Houston, Matt was coming from a totally different way that they teach the offense,” Sarkisian said. “Every system is different, right? It’s like if you live in the U.S., and then somebody drops you off in France, and you’ve got to learn French on the fly. That’s tough to do as opposed to somebody who maybe is living in Canada and then moves to the U.S. It’s not that big of a difference. So, Emmett, it’s probably a little easier for him than maybe it was for Matt when Matt first got here.”
The 6-foot-2, 210 pounder finished his 2024 year with 48 receptions for 525 receiving yards (10.9) – leading the Cardinal with six touchdown receptions. Mosley played in nine games with eight starts and set Stanford records for most receptions and receiving yards by a true freshman. Furthermore, his 525 receiving yards were the most by a Stanford true freshman since Richard Sherman had 581 in 2006.
