UPDATE, MONDAY: 4:23 P.M. MT: Ben Powers, as Mike Klis from 9News reported, will be placed on injured reserve with a bicep injury. He underwent surgery, and the team hopes to get him back in December. Bo Nix and the offense take a huge blow as Powers is one of the best interior run blockers in the league, and the Broncos, with J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey have been running the ball well.

The Denver Broncos were victorious over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Week 5 contest, ending Philadelphia’s undefeated season and giving quarterback Bo Nix and the offense a statement win in the early stages of the 2025 season.

It wasn’t all good news coming out of Denver in the victory, though. Injuries are inevitable, and the Broncos once again will be entering the upcoming Week 6 matchup in London against the New York Jets shorthanded.

Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post reported that left guard Ben Powers and quarterback Jarett Stidham flew back to Denver on Sunday instead of traveling with the team to London. For Stidham, it’s because of the birth of his third child, and he is expected to rejoin the team in England later in the week.

Unfortunately, for Powers, it’s because of an injury. While playing every snap in the victory over the Eagles, Powers suffered a biceps injury. While it’s unclear the severity of his issue, it’s big enough that the team prioritized him flying home to Denver instead of traveling with the team.

Powers’ timeline to return is uncertain

Denver has a few options with Powers being out of action. During training camp, the team utilized Alex Palczewski on the right side of the offensive line. However, as of late, the team has been rolling out Palczewski as an additional blocker on some jumbo sets, most likely meaning that Matt Peart could get the start instead.

Not only that, but Denver has Calvin Throckmorton and Alex Forsyth sitting on their practice squad who could also be eligible for a call-up to the active roster for gameday.

The Broncos added a new face to the team ahead of the London matchup, signing receiver Samori Toure to the practice squad after a vacancy left when the team promoted inside linebacker Garrett Wallow to the 53-man roster.

All eyes are going to be on Denver and how they navigate the key injury to their offensive line ahead of a showdown across the pond in London.
