Ohio State Buckeyes make major move with elite 5-star recruit who would be a huge addition in Columbus
Ohio State would love to land this player and they’re in a great spot.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have had an up-and-down recruiting cycle for the class of 2026. Things started strong for the Buckeyes in the current class, but the summer was full of misses for Ohio State with top recruits they were in the mix for. Ohio State has 20 commitments with the No. 9-ranked class in 2026, per 247 Sports Composite rankings.
Looking ahead to the 2027 class, the Buckeyes already have their headliner wideout with five-star Jamier Brown. Ohio State landed its quarterback early for the class too, with four-star Brady Edmunds already being a key recruiter for the Buckeyes. Now, Ohio State is in the mix to add a big-time target for Edmunds in the future.
Ohio State is a top school for elite 2027 TE Brock Williams
Williams is the No. 2 tight end and No. 33 overall player in the class of 2027 and the Buckeyes have made his top-3 schools list. Along with Ohio State, it is the Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs who are in the mix to land Williams. The 6-foot-5 tight end is from Libertyville, Illinois, and is the No. 1 player in the state for the class of 2027. Williams has nearly 40 offers with just about every major college football program after him.
Keenan Bailey is the primary recruiter of course for Williams as the Buckeyes try to land their next elite tight end. Ohio State did a great job of grabbing the top transfer portal tight end back in winter with Max Klare and though he hasn’t looked like a star, he’s beginning to show what he can do in Columbus. The Buckeyes recently lost their 2026 tight end commit Corbin Fordham, as he decided to flip his commitment to the Florida State Seminoles. Ohio State took two tight ends in the current freshman class in Columbus with Nate Roberts and Brody Lennon. Roberts has already earned a role as an extra blocker for the Buckeyes.
Tight end hasn’t been the most productive position for the Buckeyes and that makes it a bit tougher to recruit. Will Kacmarek is a huge part of the team in Columbus at tight end, but that is as a blocker, what tight ends usually excel at most in Columbus. Cade Stover sort of showed what tight ends can do in terms of production in his Ohio State career, totaling nearly 1,000 yards over his last two seasons. Williams is the type of tight end who can come in and be a potential target on Day 1 if his body is ready.
Beating the Bulldogs out for Williams won’t be easy, as Georgia has shown they can develop tight ends, as the Longhorns have as well. With Williams already down to a top-3, he may not wait long at all to make a decision and it could come during his junior year of high school.
