The Florida Gators continue to be in dire straits as they head into College Station at 2-3 to take on the Texas A&M Aggies.

Last weekend, the Gators took a positive step forward under head coach Billy Napier, something they haven’t done enough of during the last few years. The dominance in the trenches was important to the Gators’ success, and the same can be said for the Aggies, who are undefeated.

Florida vs. Texas A&M Key Stats

  • Aggies lead the series 4-3, including a 33-20 win in The Swamp last season. The Gators won the last meeting in College Station, 41-24, in 2022
  • Texas A&M’s defense is 20th in EPA/play allowed, but 66th in yards per rush at 4.63, and the Gators can move bodies in the run game, rushing for 159 yards against Texas.
  • Florida is easily exploitable through the air, ranking 62nd in EPA/dropback allowed, including a dominant performance against Long Island.

Ahead of Saturday night’s clash at Kyle Field, our staff gave their predictions.

Florida Gators vs. Texas A&M Aggies Final Score Predictions

Florida 27, Texas A&M 24

The Gators got their groove back on Saturday when they dominated the Texas Longhorns at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football, including generating 35 pressures on just 44 Texas dropbacks. We also saw a different DJ Lagway during the game, whose performance earned him SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors. If that continues, the Gators could be ready to go on a heater.

However, the Aggies have been on their own heater. They beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in South Bend earlier this season and just made mincemeat of the Auburn Tigers. The defense has been inconsistent, but much improved against the run in recent weeks. The key will be in the trenches. Who can create the most havoc on the interior? After what we saw last weekend, the Gators get the edge here, and Napier’s first-ranked win on the road as the head coach of Florida. Tyler Forness, A to Z Florida

Texas A&M 28, Florida 17

This matchup features two fascinating defensive line groups. Florida is fresh off a mollywhopping of the Texas Longhorns’ offensive line, while A&M completely shut down the Mississippi State offense at home last week.

Given the defensive talent of these two teams, it will inevitably come down to which offense can make the most plays, and for that, I trust the Aggies much more than I do the Napier-led Gators. A&M can attack you in so many different ways on the ground with Marcel Reed and their dynamic backs. They also have two NFL prospects at wide receiver in KC Concepcion and Mario Craver.

At the end of the day, I think the Aggies make more plays and pull away from this one in the second half. AJ Schulte, A to Z Oklahoma

Texas A&M 27, Florida 17

Off to a fast start in 2025, the Texas A&M Aggies are set to welcome the Florida Gators to Kyle Field on Saturday night. It’s a tough place to play, especially when Mike Elko’s squad is playing good football. They are led by an improved offense that can create some explosive plays with wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver. At their core, the Aggies want to run the football with Le’Veon Moss and allow quarterback Marcel Reed to make plays off of it.

The Gators had a nice bounce-back performance last week offensively against Texas. The key for Texas A&M will be just how much pass rusher Cashius Howell and the Aggie defense can force mistakes. The ends up being the difference after a mostly competitive start to the game. Ryan Roberts, A to Z Notre Dame

Texas A&M 27, Florida 17

If we look at Texas A&M’s season-long defensive metrics, the Aggies don’t look like a scary matchup for a Florida team finally finding its footing after a huge win over Texas. However, since installing several layers to their defense during the bye week, the Aggies have been immovable, impenetrable on defense.

The Aggies have allowed just one third-down conversion on opponents’ last 25 attempts. They’re giving up less than 200 total yards of offense per game. They held Auburn and Mississippi State to just 2.3 yards per carry. The defense is on fire.

If DJ Lagway and his stable of emerging star wide receivers can create some explosive plays, the Gators can stay in this one, but that’s a tough ask. Marcel Reed and his WR duo of KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, plus a trio of talented RBs, do enough to pull away late. 27-17, Aggies. Travis May, A to Z CFB Managing Editor
