Notre Dame predicted to land arguably their top 2027 defensive line target, and his background only makes him even more important
Notre Dame football has been predicted to land one of their most important defensive recruiting targets. It would be massive news.
The Notre Dame football program has recruited on an extremely high level under head coach Marcus Freeman since he took over the reins. This is the deepest the program has been in a very, very long time, and their efforts on the high school route are a big reason why. One missing piece for Coach Freeman and the Fighting Irish staff is recruiting the defensive tackle position at a higher level. They need to attract more impact size.
In the 2027 recruiting class, there may not be a bigger or more important target than Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice defensive tackle Brayden Parks. It appears there may be some good news on the horizon in regards to Parks. Blue and Gold recruiting insider Mike Singer has cast a prediction for Parks to land with the Fighting Irish. It would be a massive addition, quite literally.
Brayden Parks as a recruit
Parks is considered to be a four-star player by a majority of the major recruiting platforms, the exception being Rivals, which has him rated as a three-star player currently. On the 247 Sports ranking, Parks currently sits as the No. 128 overall player and No. 11 defensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting class. He is also pegged as the No. 8 player in the state of Illinois, a very important area for the Irish.
The offer list for Parks is even more impressive than his recruiting rankings. Some of the top programs that have offered Parks includes the Fighting Irish, Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Oregon, Michigan, LSU, Ole Miss, Penn State, USC, Miami, Auburn, Nebraska, Michigan State, Indiana, Kansas State, Iowa, Illinois, Washington, Arkansas, Arizona State, Iowa State, Minnesota, UNC, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, and Kansas among others.
The 6-3, 305-pound defensive tackle is a tremendous player for Brother Rice. In six games so far as a junior, Parks has recorded 24 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack. His impact is a lot greater than the box score, possessing an impressive blend of size, power, and movement skills. It is hard to miss big No. 98 on the field for Brother Rice.
While the size and talent that Parks brings to the table are exciting, that isn’t the only reason for excitement when discussing the Chicago native. With Parks being a local player, there is also a big importance for Notre Dame to keep its top local talent in South Bend. If they are able to do that with Parks, it is a great sign for the rest of the 2027 recruiting class in the area. It could all start with Al Washington hauling in another really talented defensive lineman.
