The Washington Commanders are looking to get all the help possible for the Monday Night Football showdown against the Chicago Bears.

The longer week provides an extra day for players to get healthy, but it might not be enough for one key player for the Commanders. Some other concerns recently popped up, however, that seem to be trending in the right direction.

The Commanders still have one day left, but it doesn’t look good for those wanting to see Terry McLaurin back on the field Monday night. Friday was a recovery day for the team, but they dropped an injury report showing what was estimated if the team participated in practice today.

Injury Report Observations

I think it’s safe to say that McLaurin will not be playing on Monday night and should be making his return against the Dallas Cowboys. He avoided surgery and having to go to the IR, so the Cowboys game would mark the fourth game of his injury. The feeling all week from the national media was that McLaurin wouldn’t play, and it’s trending on being true, which is unfortunate. The offense will have to continue without him, and Noah Brown could be joining Luke McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel on offense.

Samuel made his own appearance on the injury report, but was upgraded from a DNP to a limited participant if the team had practiced today, with a heel injury. He was on the injury report last week with the same issue, but then had his best game of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers, so this shouldn’t be a worry.

We don’t know if Sam Cosmi will make his season debut on Monday night, but he said he will play against the Cowboys if he isn’t ready in time this week. The Commanders’ offensive line has been much improved, and he can make it even better. Running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. was also a DNP for a second day, and his status could be in doubt. Bill Croskey-Merritt is expected to get the heavy workload again, but the team would have to elevate Donovan Edwards or Chase Edmunds from the practice squad if he can’t go.
