Eagles’ Report Card: Biggest surprises and dissappoints after the first six weeks of the 2025 season
The Eagles are first in the NFC East, but their report card says otherwise.
The Philadelphia Eagles are six weeks into the 2025 NFL season. After opening with four straight wins, they now enter Week 7 looking to bounce back from two straight losses.
While this team hasn’t consistently looked like the reigning Super Bowl LIX champions that fans came to expect, there have still been some bright spots along the way.
Here’s a look at the Eagles’ first-trimester report card, complete with superlatives and overall grades.
Offensive Superlatives
MVP: Dallas Goedert
Tight end Dallas Goedert has shown up each week and currently leads the Eagles’ receiving room with five touchdowns. He’s never had more than five in an entire season since he did back in 2019.
Glue guy: Jordan Mailata
The Eagles can always count on Jordan Mailata to hold the offensive line down for them. Just like last season, Mailata remains the highest graded offensive lineman for Philly with an overall PFF grade of 82.8.
Biggest surprise: Tyler Steen
Tyler Steen has been an underrated key piece of the Eagles’ offensive line this season. He’s allowed just one sack, which is doing better than Lane Johnson and Brett Toth. The only guard grading out better than him right now is Matt Pryor.
Biggest disappointment: Saquon Barkley
Saquon Barkley was the star of the show in 2024, but that has been far from the case this season. Of course, it’s not entirely his fault. Barkley has carried the ball 95 times for just 325 yards and three scores so far this season.
Turning point of the last six weeks: A.J. Brown
A.J. Brown kicked off the season with just one target. While he still isn’t getting enough, he’s making plays when he does (if we ignore the Broncos game). Brown has hauled in just 25 receptions for 274 yards and one score so far. Those numbers should be doubled, and everybody knows that the Eagles must keep feeding him if they want to win, and everybody knows that.
Offense Overall Grade: C
Defensive Superlatives
MVP: Zack Baun
Zack Baun is rarely an issue and more like a lifesaver for the Eagles, currently leading the Eagles’ defense with 48 tackles, two sacks, one interception, and one pass defended.
Glue guy: Cooper DeJean
The Eagles’ secondary has been a mess this season, but one player holding it together and remaining consistent has been Cooper DeJean. In six games, DeJean has totaled 28 tackles, including two tackles for loss, and defended five passes.
Biggest surprise: Andrew Mukuba
Eagles rookie Andrew Mukuba has been a bigger impact than expected in Year 1. Mukuba has logged 32 tackles, 0.5 sacks, defended two passes, and snagged one interception off of Patrick Mahomes.
Biggest disappointment: Kelee Ringo
The hope was that Kelee Ringo would step up in Year 3, but that has been far from the case. If anything, Ringo is a major liability when he’s on the field.
Turning point of the last six weeks: Jordan Davis
Jordan Davis is doing everything and anything he can to help the Eagles win. He leads all defensive tackles in tackles with 25 and passes defended with three. He has also recorded two sacks and blocked a field goal that he returned for a touchdown in a win against the Los Angeles Rams.
Defense Overall Grade: B
2025 Draft Class Superlatives
Overachiever: Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell has gone above and beyond for the Birds. Through six games, Campbell has impressed with 40 total tackles and two passes defended, including one interception off Baker Mayfield. There’s a chance the Eagles moved him from off-ball linebacker to edge over the next few weeks after Za’Darius Smith abruptly retired. That should be fun.
Rookie we need to see more from: Mac McWilliams
Mac McWilliams has seen action in three games, recording one tackle. We definitely need to see more from him, and maybe we will with Quinyon Mitchell dealing with an injury.
Underachiever: Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson has played 22 defensive snaps and logged just one tackle. Like Williams, we need to see more from him, but that comes with good practices.
Draft Class Overall Grade: B
Coaching Report Card
Grade: C
The Eagles may be leading the NFC East at 4-2, but it certainly doesn’t seem like it with how they’ve looked, especially in the second half of the games they recently lost. There is clear miscommunication on offense with Kevin Patullo and his players, and if that doesn’t get fixed, then there is no way this team stays atop the Division. While Patullo is one to point fingers at, it all falls down on head coach Nick Sirianni. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is doing the best he can with what he has to work with, but it’s time to figure out the cornerback situation.
