NFL makes Jeffery Simmons’ and L’Jarius Sneed’s week even worse after the Titans fired Brian Callahan
Both starters were docked thousands of dollars for infractions committed in Week 6.
The Tennessee Titans are in one of the worst phases in franchise history and two key players’ week got even worse after the firing of Brian Callahan on Monday.
Star defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons and starting cornerback L’Jarius Sneed were both fined for unnecessary roughness in Week 6 against the Las Vegas Raiders and they were docked $12,172 and $23,186, respectively, per the NFL’s Gameday Accountability updates.
Simmons’ unnecessary roughness crime falls under the “striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing” category, while Sneed’s falls under “illegal use of a helmet”. Defender Dre’Mont Jones was also fined $11,593 for a facemask he committed in the third quarter. Jones was the only player flagged during the Titans’ loss to the Raiders.
It’s pretty easy to see why Simmons was fined, but frankly, it’s tough to see why Sneed was fined, as you can see in the video after the Big Jeff error:
In a year where wins are going to be scarce, it has to hurt to lose this much money of top of losing games. Hopefully Titans vets can find some kind of silver lining at some point, but that obviously remains to be seen as the team trudges through the remaining 11 games of the 2025 season.
