Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer had to stop a post-game altercation between one of his players and a Tennessee Vols starter on Saturday night in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

After the Crimson Tide’s 37-2o win over the Vols, things got chippy between a couple of Alabama and Tennessee players.

Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell and Bama defensive lineman James Smith exchanged some not-so-friendly words on the field before DeBoer stepped in to break up the altercation.

Good on DeBoer for stepping in and preventing that verbal altercation from becoming a physical alternation.

Alabama’s James Smith was a menace on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa

Smith won’t be a very popular guy in East Tennessee after what he did to Vols quarterback Joey Aguilar on Saturday night.

Aguilar took a hit to his neck early in the game, which forced the UT quarterback to the injury tent. He remained in the game, but he was clearly in discomfort.

In the second quarter, Aguilar picked up a couple of yards with his legs before sliding and giving himself up.

Smith, however, took a cheap shot by diving on the quarterback and driving his arm into Aguilar’s neck (which resulted in a penalty).

That’s as dirty as it gets, and a bad, bad look for Smith.
