Howie Roseman might have just found a way to fix Eagles defense without even making a trade
Brandon Graham is “mulling” a comeback at the perfect time.
Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman may have just found a way to fix his defense after the latest NFL news.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, defensive end Brandon Graham is pondering a comeback to save Philly’s weak pass rush.
“Comeback? #Eagles great Brandon Graham is mulling coming out of retirement, per me and @MikeGarafolo, and the veteran edge could return for a 16th season,” Rapoport reported on X/Twitter. “Graham retired after the Super Bowl, but with his old team in need of pass-rush help, he might return as soon as this week.”
Brandon Graham could save the Eagles from making a trade
Graham could save the Eagles from having to make more than one trade ahead of the Nov. 4 deadline.
After the Eagles lost Za’Darius Smith to abrupt retirement last week, the defense is thin at edge, and Graham could easily fill that void. There’s also no doubt that the Eagles’ locker room would love to have Graham, who played 15 seasons in midnight green, back in their locker room.
The Eagles’ former first-round pick in 2010 out of Michigan still holds the franchise record for most regular-season games played (206) and ranks third all-time in sacks (76.5). In 15 seasons, Graham logged 76.5 sacks, 487 total tackles, 126 for a loss, 153 QB hits, and 22 forced fumbles.
Last fall, Graham proved to have plenty of juice left after he recorded 3.5 sacks and 20 total tackles for the Birds. He also had six tackles for loss and seven quarterback hits before a triceps injury in Week 12 ended his regular season. He returned for the Super Bowl to secure his second ring.
Per Rapoport, Graham and the Eagles could finalize a contract as soon as this week if he is serious.
