The Commanders need to make this risk-free move before the NFL trade deadline to solidify position with injuries
One trade the Commanders should seriously consider.
The season is spiraling quickly for the Washington Commanders after losing to the Dallas Cowboys, and things only got worse after the game.
Injuries have been the Commanders’ kryptonite, and the biggest loss just happened on Sunday with Dorance Armstrong suffering a season-ending knee injury. The Commanders are now down to just Von Miller, Jacob Martin, and Preston Smith in the edge rusher room, and they need to act fast, but responsibly.
The Commanders could make a trade before the deadline on Nov. 4 that doesn’t require premium draft capital and also gives them a young playmaker on the edge for the future as well.
Commanders should trade for Tyree Wilson
The Las Vegas Raiders are a bad team that could have some players available for trade before the deadline, and one of them is Tyree Wilson, who has been rumored as a trade candidate over the last few weeks. Wilson was the Raiders’ seventh overall pick in 2023, but things just haven’t worked out for whatever reason. He was one of the top prospects in his class with a 6-foot-5, 263-pound frame and has athletic traits to work with.
Wilson is a solid run stopper, and he’s starting to tap into his potential in the pass rush game. He has 10 sacks since he was drafted, and he already has two this season with only 159 snaps. The Commanders could lean on him this season and let him develop into a future piece of the defense as well.
Tyree Wilson could thrive in Washington
Sometimes, a change of scenery is what a player needs, as we’ve seen around the league with players like Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold. I would be all over a Wilson trade, especially if you can swap players instead of picks.
The Commanders have only six 2026 NFL draft picks, with the opportunity to get another by a comp pick after losing Wise for the season, and they need to use every single one to improve the roster. They do, however, have two players I could see them trading to the Raiders for Wilson, cornerback Noah Igbinoghene, and offensive lineman Brandon Coleman, who has been inactive for the majority of the season.

Coleman and Igbinoghene are both premium position players the Raiders need, and neither requires any draft capital. It’s a true change-of-scenery trade with a potential higher payoff in positions of need.
The Commanders need to add youth and talent on the edge, and keeping draft capital while taking a chance on a player like Wilson is a major move they can make without ruining offseason plans. I’d call the Raiders about a potential player-for-player trade before the deadline.
