Mike Evans had an incredible offseason and it looked like he was going to have one of the best years of his career. The only thing that could stop him is injury.

Sure enough, injury has been the story of his season. Evans hurt his hamstring in Week 3 against the New York Jets and missed the subsequent three games. He returned for the Bucs’ key matchup against the Detroit Lions in Week 7, but had to leave the game with a little more than five minutes to go in the first half after injuring his shoulder and suffering a concussion.

Mike Evans’ 1,000-yard season streak is likely dead after these injuries

Evans has just 140 receiving yards through the first seven games of the season and he’s likely to miss some more time after Monday night. If he even misses one game after Monday, at minimum, that would require 95.5 receiving yards per game in order for him to just hit 1k receiving yards. That number obviously goes up if he misses more than one game.

Just to put that into context: Former Lions wideout and Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson has the NFL record for most receiving yards per game in a single season at 122.8 back in 2012. So while it’s entirely possible, the odds of it not happening are much higher than it actually happening.

Regardless, Evans’ health is the top concern, right now, and hopefully everything ends up as OK as possible in a general sense.
