New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson fired back at his former head coach, Sean Payton, on Tuesday. This comes days after the Broncos came back in the fourth quarter to win 33-32 in one of the wildest games of the NFL season.

Even before kickoff, there was bad blood brewing between the two clubs, with edge Jonathon Cooper throwing some shade, along with fellow edge Nik Bonitto getting in on the action. Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart responded, and the conversations continued well after the game ended.

Immediately after the game, Payton made some comments about preferring a different quarterback to get the start instead of Dart, appearing to take some shots at Wilson.

Wilson took to X (Twitter) to voice his grievances with Payton, bringing up the infamous “Bountygate” without mentioning it by name.

“Classless…,” Wilson wrote. “But not surprised… Didn’t realize you’re still bounty hunting 15+ years later through the media #LetsRide”

Payton’s initial comments, which sparked Wilson’s social media post, were hoping the Giants would’ve started Wilson instead of Dart, without so much as mentioning Wilson’s name.

“I have a ton of respect for that organization. I spent four of my early years there coordinating, Super Bowl, the first game in this stadium before 9/11, close with the Mara and Tisch family,” Payton said. “They found a little spark with that quarterback [Dart]. I was talking to John Mara not too long ago, and I said we were hoping that the change would’ve happened long after our game.”

The back-and-forth immediately drew widespread social media attention, with no response from Payton. Wilson didn’t hold back, and now the league’s latest off-field rivalry might just be between the Broncos’ head coach and the backup quarterback for the New York Giants.
