For the first time since becoming a member of the Green Bay Packers, edge defender Micah Parsons has won an NFC Defensive Player of the Week award. The deserved recognition comes after a monster three-sack performance in the Packers’ 27-23 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Impactful performance

Parsons recorded five tackles, four tackles for loss, and a career-high three sacks in Green Bay’s win, getting the team to a 4-1-1 record and the first seed in the NFC.

The matchup marked Parsons’ 16th career game with at least two sacks, tied with T.J. Watt for the fifth-most such games by a player in his first five seasons since 1982. Only Pro Football Hall of Famers Reggie White (24 games), Richard Dent (19), and Jared Allen (17), as well as J.J. Watt (21) have more.

This is the fourth-career Defensive Player of the Week award for Parsons and first as a Packer. Parsons is the third Packers defensive lineman to earn the honor in the past 20 seasons (2006-25), joining Aaron Kampman (twice) and Dean Lowry.

Micah Parsons is the first Packer to receive the honor since off-ball linebacker Edgerrin Cooper received it in Week 15 of last season. Green Bay acquired Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys in August, sending to Dallas a package with two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. So far this season, the edge defender has had 5.5 sacks.
