Linebacker Logan Wilson has officially requested a trade from the Cincinnati Bengals. ESPN’s Ben Baby broke the news that the 29-year-old wants to start anew.

Wilson has a good reason for this request. A former third-round pick from the 2020 NFL Draft, Wilson entered this season as a first-time team captain with four years of starting experience under his belt. By Week 6, he was relegated to backup duties as rookie LB Barrett Carter jumped him on the depth chart. Carter now wears the green communications dot on his helmet and doesn’t leave the field. Wilson has played just 38 snaps in the last two weeks.

Cincinnati doesn’t view Wilson as a starter anymore, but he’s still owed over $3 million of his base salary for the rest of the season and has an additional two years left on his $36 million contract. It makes sense for the Bengals to trade him if the right deal and suitor emerge.

I reached out to my fellow beat writers here at A to Z Sports, and these four teams should have interest in trading for Wilson prior to the Nov. 4 trade deadline.

Dallas Cowboys

“The Cowboys badly need linebacker help. The defense can’t stop the run, and it largely has to do with bad angles, poor tackling, and terrible gap integrity. Coverage at the second level hasn’t been much better, with communication being a constant issue. Dallas is expecting to get DeMarvion Overshown back from injury in Week 11. That is not enough, and Overshown won’t play middle linebacker. Wilson could, and he would be an immediate upgrade over Kenneth Murray.” – Mauricio Rodriguez, A to Z Sports Dallas

Indianapolis Colts

“The Colts have been collecting former Bengals players like infinity stones this season to reunite them with Lou Anarumo. Currently, they have Mike Hilton (IR) and Germaine Pratt, so I wouldn’t be shocked if they also wanted to attempt to add Wilson.

My only concern would be how they plan to split reps. The team starts Zaire Franklin and Pratt right now. So, how would Wilson fit into their plans on defense? He’s very familiar with Anaruno’s defense, though, so if someone is going to figure it out, it would be Lou.” – Destin Adams, A to Z Sports Indianapolis

Minnesota Vikings

“The Vikings have a really interesting linebacker room. Blake Cashman is a good player who can do everything, but there is one big issue: he struggles to stay healthy. Next to him is Ivan Pace Jr., who was benched this past weekend after being very inconsistent with his tackling.

Plus, he struggles in pass coverage, which is a big deal in the modern NFL. Adding a versatile player at the linebacker position next to Cashman will be a priority at some point for the Vikings, and making a deadline move could be the smart play.” – Tyler Forness, A to Z Sports Minnesota

San Francisco 49ers

“The 49ers should be calling nonstop for Wilson. Even if the experienced defender has taken a step back this season, he is a clear and notable upgrade over the current options in the LB room for Robert Saleh. After losing Fred Warner for the season, Dee Winters is the only reliable, proven commodity at the position.

Adding Wilson would take some pressure off rookie LB Nick Martin, who has missed time due to injury this season. Plus, this sort of acquisition can push depth like Tatum Bethune and Luke Gifford back into their correct roles as backups. It makes a ton of sense for the 49ers and probably won’t be an expensive cost.” – Adam Holt, A to Z Sports New Orleans
